How to Survive This Economy
63Unemployment
The Labor and Statistics Bureau has stated that 14.6 million Americans are unemployed. These are the documented numbers of people who are collecting unemployment benefits. There are a large number of unemployed Americans who are not collecting benefits. So, we know the unemployment rate is even higher.
For every job available, there are 6 candidates who are qualified. What's even worse is the "New" Full-Time job is really "Part-Time" and the "New" Part-Time job is equal to 10-20 hours a week. Something, needs to happen for us to survive in this troubled economy.
What Can We Do?
I joined the U.S. Army at 39 in 2008, as I couldn't find a decent job that paid me enough to support my bills. I had lost or was still losing all of my assets. My marriage was over and I saw no other alternative. So, I left for the Army on September 22, 2008 with nothing but my orders and the clothes on my back.
I was in the Army for 10 months, unfortunately I was injured during training and was "Honorably Discharged". That didn't help me one bit when I was once again looking for work. I couldn't collect unemployment and though I am a veteran, I am not entitled to any of the good benefits. Oh well, that figured. Besides, the only way to get or do anything is to get and do it yourself.
Being away for 10 months did however, teach me that I didn't need all of those things that I had been trying so hard to pay for, keep, and maintain. I learned that less is fine and that family is all that mattered. I have always had an unbelievable ability to stay positive and motivated. It is a bit harder when serious issues are all around, but once I am able to see through the fog, I am right back up, never quitting, always moving forward.
So, prior to the Army, I had been in the Real Estate Market had always owned my own business and worked for myself. I had been successfully doing this since I was 25 years old until the Real Estate Market crashed. My only conclusion to survive in this economy today is, to once again work for myself and help other people do the same.

It is crazy how things got so stupid so fast, with the realstate market, that is.
I know carpenters that should be making 18+ working for 9 dollars an hour, it's insane. I'm thinking of working out of the states for a while to get a bankroll goin.
